Robyn A. Meinhardt is a retired partner with Foley & Lardner LLP, and was a member of the Health Care Industry Team and Information Technology & Outsourcing Practice. Ms. Meinhardt’s practice focused primarily on information privacy and security, legal issues related to the Internet and electronic data, implementation of electronic health records, and cybercrime prevention and response.

Ms. Meinhardt helped companies create and successfully implement e-business initiatives, counseling them in regard to regulatory, privacy, and security issues; contract negotiation; and policy development from both a U.S. and an international perspective. She has helped health industry clients implement the HIPAA Privacy, Security and Transactions Rules, and assisted them with compliance efforts. Ms. Meinhardt has written and spoken frequently on these topics.

Ms. Meinhardt also assisted health care providers and health plans to achieve and maintain compliance with licensing, accreditation, and other regulatory requirements, and to respond to related government investigations. She advised clients engaged in clinical research regarding their compliance with federal and state law requirements.

Ms. Meinhardt has co-chaired several of the annual Health Information and Technology conferences of the American Health Lawyers Association. She is a member of that association, the Science and Technology Section of the American Bar Association, the Colorado Bar Association and the California Society for Healthcare Attorneys. Prior to her legal career, she had 11 years experience as a registered nurse in critical care and emergency departments.

Ms. Meinhardt earned an A.S. and an B.S. in nursing from Southern College and her law degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder.

She is a co-author of the Bloomberg BNA Health Law & Business Portfolio Series No. 2900, The Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act: Practical Tips and Legal Issues.
