Tony McFarland, a Member of Bass, Berry & Sims PLC, represents clients, particularly those in the financial services industry, in complex business litigation matters, including arbitrations and class and multidistrict actions, and advises them on electronic data privacy, security and management concerns.

Mr. McFarland has more than 30 years of experience working with leaders at financial institutions and public and private companies. He has represented financial institutions in actions involving lender and broker-dealer liability claims, including those brought under the Bank Secrecy Act, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, the Tennessee Financial Records Privacy Act, the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act, Regulations E and J, the Uniform Commercial Code, the Electronic Funds Transfer Act, the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, and those relating to negligence and misrepresentation accusations. His counsel recently helped a client avoid a multimillion dollar loss in an overdraft fees class action.

He has also represented public and private companies regarding claims involving breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, unjust enrichment, misrepresentation, director and/or officer liability, securities violations, and other business-related activities, including high dollar insurance coverage disputes.

Mr. McFarland received his B.A., summa cum laude, from the University of Dallas and his J.D. from Vanderbilt University.
