Joanna Kerpen is a Partner at Winston & Strawn where she focuses on
employee benefits tax and Employee Retirement Income Security Act
matters related to 401(k), pension, health and welfare, and executive
compensation plans. Her practice includes designing, amending, and
administering such plans. Ms. Kerpen has represented clients before
the Department of Labor and Internal Revenue Service. She has assisted
clients with voluntary correction filings under the Employee Plans
Compliance Resolution System and applications for determination letters
on plan termination and tax-qualification. Ms. Kerpen received her Bachelor of Science from Boston College, her Juris Doctor from Loyola University of Chicago,
and her LLM from Georgetown University.
She is the author of the Benefits Practitioners' Strategy Guide report HIPAA Privacy and Security Compliance for Group Health Plan Sponsors.
