Zack Hoffmann-Richards, Esq. is a health and benefits compliance consultant in Willis Towers Watson’s New York City office. He has ten years of experience in ERISA and employee benefits compliance with respect to defined contribution, defined benefit, and health and welfare plans, with a particular focus on compliance issues specific to health and welfare plans, including cafeteria plans. He provides guidance to clients on ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act, plan documents, nondiscrimination testing, and plan administration. He advises clients on designing,implementing, maintaining, administering and terminating employee benefit plans. He also counsels clients and provides training related to HIPAA privacy and security as well as plan administrator’s fiduciary responsibilities under ERISA. He has supported clients in a variety of industries, including telecommunications, hospital systems, consumer electronics, universities and nonprofits. Prior to joining Willis Towers Watson, he was a Senior Investigator with the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employee Benefits Security Administration where he planned, coordinated, and conducted complex civil and criminal investigations of large and varied employee benefit plans, service providers, MEWAs, Taft-Hartley plans, and employee stock ownership plans. He holds a Juris Doctor from Emory University School of Law, and a Bachelor of Arts from Stanford University.
